The departure of Friday is now imminent and today I have distributed the press releases to Zambian newspapers and television which have promised me to cover the event. Like usual in Zambia after the initial enthusiasm all the journalists asked me the prophetic question “what about transport?”, so on Friday morning I will go round to pick up journalists from The Post, Daily Mail and Times to take them to Chongwe. ZNBC, the Zambian national television, will air a special report at the Friday evening News for the hundredth TV appearance of Matteo who is certainly beloved by the Zambian TV!
In the turmoil of the pre-departure preparations I have missed certain details: task of tomorrow find at least twenty chairs and a microphone for the departure day which will have as guests among others the Senior Chieftness Nkomesha Mukamambo II on whose chiefdom the Sport2build school will be built and the Italian Ambassador in Lusaka who not only has given the Embassy’s patronage to the initiative but is also cycling with Matteo the first few km of this amazing journey.
The search of the maps of the countries crossed continues, a mammoth task here in Zambia, to date only Kenya and a fantastic map of Zambia bought today, the last one in the small souvenir shop of Intercontinental.
The preparation continues and our support to Matteo in this adventure is assured, although from a distance.
